Welcome to St. John's
We have over 150 years experience of being a "Lutheran" presence to the Mendota area. You can see that our ministry is a reflection of our theology- "The Universal Priesthood of All Believers." Our goal is to equip those who believe Jesus is the Christ, to go and reflect God's love in their work, their studies, and every aspect of daily life. It's good to have you come and worship with us. Please come back often!
(Please note that our worship services, music ministries, small groups, youth activities, and educational opportunities have all been impacted by the current covid-19 pandemic. We ask for your continued prayers and patience as we navigate our way back to normal.)

Music Ministries
St. John's Adult Choir is a dedicated group of men and women who love to sing and have fun. A wide variety of worship music is rehearsed. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6pm in the Sanctuary. All who enjoy singing are welcome. Director: Delle Vercimak
Raise the Praise Band is a musically talented, friendly group of adults that has a great time praising God, creating music together and serving St. John's. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights at 7pm in the Sanctuary. Some of us read music, and others play by ear, but all are encouraging and open to having new musicians join us. Director: James Younger |

Youth Activities
Kindergarten through 5th graders are invited to participate in a week-long Vacation Bible School each summer with staff provided by Lutherdale Bible Camp.
7th and 8th grade students are encouraged to take part in a week-long, overnight Confirmation camp held at the beautiful Lutherdale Bible Camp in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. High School students meet early in the school year to select the destination for their summer Mission Trip. Students and chaperones spend a week serving the less fortunate in communities across the country. Past trips have taken our team to northern Minnesota, the eastern shore of Virginia, Michigan, Alabama and Missouri. Junior High and High School students volunteer their time to complete service projects for our local community, also. Our kids always find ways to make "service" enjoyable, but it's not "all work all the time." We also plan activities that are just plain fun! |
Educational Opportunities
Sunday School is offered for children ages 3 thru high school from 10:15am-11:15 am each Sunday (Sept-May). Students age 3 through 6th grade begin in the Chapel with songs and then disperse to their individual classrooms. The older students begin in their Sunday School classrooms. The curriculum is Bible-based with stories, activities, and fun.
7th and 8th grade students participate in Confirmation Class on Sunday mornings from 10:15am-11:15am. After two years of study, our 8th grade students are prepared to be confirmed members of the congregation. The Soul Sisters small group is open to women of all ages. They meet in the Luther Lounge on Sundays at 10:15am. Faith Followers meet after worship in the north Fellowship Hall. Join us as we continue on our personal “faith journey”. |
