Our vision statement was compiled after a year-long labor of love, asking and interviewing members about what each felt about St. Johns' future in their lives. We truly appreciate the feedback and prayers. The vision is now in our hands- every member of the St. John's Family. We have been blessed for 150 years of church life at St. John's. We look forward to the next 150 years, loving God and making disciples together.

Our Vision:

St. John's Lutheran Church celebrates God's word with God's people living God's Great Commandment through His Great Commission. Our vision focuses on growing and strengthening four key areas of church life: family ministries, small groups, Bible study, and stewardship & outreach

Family Ministries

St John's Family ministries will be essential to our lives through worship, prayer, and programs for us all.

What does this mean for us?
  • ALL people in God's Family will feel the strength of God's Spirit through the programs and environment he empowers us to create.
  • St. John's will continue to be our gathering place and social hub as well as a community center to come together to learn and live God's Word.
  • Large weekly services in a variety of styles to meet our diverse needs, led by the Pastor, trained lay people, guest speakers, and interactive & alternative presentations.

Imagine us as the driving force in...
  • Getting all ages together for bowling, trivia nights, hayrides, campfires
  • Hosting card clubs, craft lessons, first aid classes
  • Building a coffee house for group meetings and fellowship
  • Arranging trips to the Holy Land and Europe for sight-seeing and religious history
  • Inviting newcomers and friends to worship and having them walk through the front doors to see timely information, innovative signage, and a video screen that enhances music and the Message
  • Creating a Christ-centered, full-time preschool, daycare, and after-school programs

Small Groups

Small groups will be our basis for involving everyone at St. John's in a comprehensive and cohesive approach to carrying out God's Great Commission.

What does this mean for us?
  • Building our Christian community, thereby growing the Kingdom
  • Crafting new and strengthen ongoing groups within our church
  • Meeting rooms overflowing with resource materials, audio-visual, and technological tools
  • Positive, relevant ministries with study groups and special interests for all ages
  • Dynamic, exciting facilities for each age group
Visualize the impact that we can achieve when we...
  • Build a fitness center for all ages, keeping seniors active and channeling kids' energies
  • Call a Family Minister to help lead our ministries
  • Inspire teens and "tweens" with positive recreational and tech-savvy approaches
  • Mentor kids and young adults with life-planning classes and vocational seminars
  • Present topics such as evangelism, parenting, retirement, health issues
  • Establish annual workshops for life issues like estate planning, retirement, and Medicare

Our vision prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Help us realize the vision for all people in Your Family to feel the strength of Your Spirit through the programs and environment You empower us to create. Please help us cooperate and commit to involving everyone to carry out Your Great Commission. Help us grow Your Kingdom by serving others and building a Christian community. Touch every aspect of our lives with Your Word, and continue to bless us, so that we may be blessings to others. In Your name we pray, Amen.

Bible Study

Bible Study will be organized and offered for all ages with the goal of achieving the "faith of a child, coupled with the wisdom of an adult."

What does this mean for us?
  • Examining biblical foundation and theology
  • Bible study and prayer will be included in all church functions, meetings, and services
  • Prayer tradition will continue in Prayer Chains and devotions
  • Exploring what it means to be Lutheran

Picture St. John's as a place where...
  • Bibles are in every pew for everyone's use
  • Information for the prayer chain is online, including how prayer has helped
  • We'll have a change to learn about the theology behind the message
  • Free meals are held after worship to encourage fellowship

Stewardship & Outreach

Stewardship and outreach activities will lead us to share our time, talents, and financial resources in a manner as great as God has blessed us.

What does this mean for us?
  • Strong, joyful giving in the ELCA tradition of Christian servant-hood, sharing our abundance.
  • Supporting local and global welfare projects.

We will nourish minds, bodies, and souls by...
  • Forming group missions to help those in disaster areas in the U.S. and abroad
  • Planting gardens for the local food pantry and PADS
  • Repairing homes for the elderly, disabled, and impoverished
  • Teaching our kids to make food and gifts to deliver to the elderly
  • Adopting causes to support through fundraising, such as running for World hunger
